Back Mountain Enduro Riders
The Race dates for the 2004 Hare Scrambles have been posted on the 2004 Events Schedule pages. Thee have been some class changes for this season, I'll have them up on the individual race announcements in a few days. I still need to verify what I have with the District 6 listing. Between access issues and insurance it's becoming harder every day to promote races. PLEASE – NO PIT OR PLAY
RIDING! Riding anywhere outside the designated race course is
expressly forbidden. This is
serious. We are fighting to keep
this event alive, and pit riding is a major issue with both our host and our
insurance carrier. BMER will be using barcode scanners at the 2004 races!!! Ed Buratti has been working since last September's race upgrading the computerized race entry system we debuted rd at the September race. Everyone is going to really like what he has put together. Below are the highlights of what Ed has put together. We've got great news for racers. During the off-season, we built a computerized scoring system for our Hare Scrambles. This system is complete with barcodes and scanners, but the best news is the video monitor at the scoring station. This monitor shows your name, number, class, and current position when you're scanned, allowing you to not only verify that you have been properly scored, but to know where you stand throughout the race! We've also got great news for spectators. Our computerized scoring system includes a real-time Scoreboard that displays the unofficial standings throughout the race. You'll be able to watch your racer's progress throughout the entire race! Ed is also working on a web page that has all of the details and screen images for everyone to see, click here for more details. If you like the new system let him know when you see him at the race, he's the really tall guy that will be running between all of the computers on race day. He has more hours into this than you can imagine.
That's right the race order has changed for 2004. The bikes will now run at 10:30 in the slot where the quads traditionally ran and the quads will now run at 1:00 in the bike old spot. Please keep this in mind when planning you arrival time at the race.
BMER will be putting on "Rick's 100 Man Ride" at Hatfield~McCoy trails in West Virginia. The ride will be April 23rd, 24th and 25th so mark it on your calendar. There will be a limited number of spots reserved for non-club members so sign-up soon. This includes a three day trail pass, 5 meals, camping and showers available. You can find more information about Hatfield~McCoy at their website http://www.trailsheaven.com. To sign-up please send an email to Scott.Olex@bmer.org This place is a great time so don't miss out.
More information to come. For many of the club members the 2004 season has been underway with District 6 meetings, Mandatory AMA education and new computer systems for scoring at the races. That's right! We are working on a scanner system for the barrels. I have several updates to finalize in the next few weeks, so keep checking back for more information. Thanks and hope to see you at one of our events. BMER Club Members
